Addressable Fire Detection

Addressable fire detection systems use the same common field devices as conventional systems but differ in many other ways.

Once of the main differences of addressable fire detection systems over conventional systems is the field devices have built in intelligence and can produce more information than just 'fire' or 'fault'. Each individual device has a unique address allowing the fire alarm control panel to communicate directly. This resolves the issue of suitability for larger applications which restricts conventional systems as the fire panel will indicate which loop, zone and device has activated accompanied by a text location description. Addressable fire systems can also be integrated to a graphical user interface, GUI, for even faster location of activated field devices.

The addressable fire detection control panels are also more intelligent as they can store very specific information on all the individual field devices, status monitoring of the all the field devices and be networked together. They can also be programmed to have specific cause and effects which is more common on larger installations. These are just some of the additional features seen on addressable fire systems over conventional fire systems which make them considerable more functional and user friendly.
